Welcome to "Love in the Time of Banned Books"

It is now 2025, a new year – and while the end of 2024 came with many disappointments, we still hold hope for the future. Because even as power shifts hands and repercussions ripple across the globe, Polyphony Lit remains dedicated to empowering marginalized voices and advocating for access to books.

With this in mind, we present to you “Love in the Time of Banned Books,” a blog series that celebrates LGBTQ+ identities and experiences, while critically examining book bans and how they impact the LGBTQ+ community. In this series, you will see poems, book reviews, visual artwork, interviews, and more. Stay tuned because a new post in this series will be published on the first Wednesday of each month between January 2025 and December 2025.

We hope that you will join us in ringing in a new year where writers and artists can take pride in their work with both defiance and unapologetic authenticity. If you would like to support Polyphony Lit and our efforts to make literary opportunities accessible to high school students worldwide, then please follow the link below to donate.

Best,

Julian Riccobon
