EDITORIAL PRAISE
With a raw and mournful voice, “self-portrait as passenger pigeons” paints a vivid picture of the journey of passenger pigeons and connects their tragic story to the horrors of Asian discrimination. The poet confronts the erasure of culture and racism with novel imagery and striking language. Through searing verse, the author invites us as readers to grieve with the speaker, as well as to listen for the birdsong amidst the silence.
